Karen Williams, Alto

SBCS Board President, Karen Wood Williams, grew up in Santa Barbara in performing arts, graduating from Westmont College. After a decade as owner of an Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences recognized SB/LA talent management firm bearing her name, Ms. Williams produced and toured concerts, musical theatre, and dramas in such local venues as The Granada and Arlington Theaters and the Santa Barbara Courthouse Sunken Gardens. While maintaining a private voice studio, Karen appeared in operas with Music Academy of the West and Opera Santa Barbara, and spent eight years on the faculty of Providence, A Santa Barbara Christian School, instructing both vocal and instrumental music. She helms Villa Arts Camp, sponsored by Metropolitan Opera singer Eduardo Villa, is a Performing Arts Adjudicator for Santa Barbara County Schools, and has served as Drama Director for Royal Family Kids Camp for at risk Santa Barbara youth.

Karen is married, now for over 30 years, to husband, Ross, who is a Senior Systems Engineer at Seek Thermal and also sings with the tenors in the chorus. They have two sons, Shane, a graduate in chemical engineering, and Chad, a freshman in college. When not singing, Karen loves tennis and snow skiing. One tidbit you may not know: she won money on the TV game show Jackpot. Karen joined the Santa Barbara Choral Society in the 2013 season, served two years as a Director on the Board of Directors and as Artistic Operations Manager for the chorus. She will became Board President in the 2017 -18 season.
